Giving Opportunities

We believe there is no better way to shape the future of our community than by giving children and families the support they need to create an environment of caring and security. The YMCA as a 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation offers hope and help to families through programs that teach values, build self-esteem and provide structured educational, recreational and social alternatives. Giving to the YMCA represents a desire to inspire and enable others. It represents a larger love that ultimately creates and sustains a true sense of community.

Donations are needed in each of the following categories:

Annual Giving

We must raise annual operating funds to expand community outreach and maintain our current programs while ensuring that the entire community has access regardless of their ability to pay the program fee.

Capital Needs

To ensure that quality of YMCA programming, our facilities must be well designed, clean, sage and aggressively maintained. Buildings depreciate at a rate of 3 to 5% annually. Funding for 40 years of depreciation in current dollars is required. YMCAs cannot raise the capital funds necessary through annual operations. Periodic capital campaigns ensure that we meet this need.

Endowment

A strong endowment fund provides the stability and flexibility necessary to weather the vicissitudes of economic change. A properly managed fund maintains strong growth while enabling the YMCA to sustain its mission. Having a strong financial picture allows the YMCA to acquire below-market rate financing, sell or apply for bonding or use low interest bridge loans to undertake capital projects which are paid back when capital campaign pledges are received. Whenever a YMCA spends down its endowment, the organization and its members suffer.
