Baby and Me Swim - Ages 6 to 36 months; 1:12 ratio
This class is a water enrichment class providing opportunities for the parent and child to socialize, interact with others and be introduced to basic water skills. An instructor provides guidance, proper water entry, holding positions, water skills, and safety. Circle time, consisting of songs and games, occurs at the end of each class.
Pike: (Non-Swimmer & Beginner) - Ages 3 to 5 years old; 1:6 ratio
The focus of this class is helping children adjust and develop independent movement in the water. Children will learn to swim with a personal floatation device on their front and back.
Eel: (Intermediate) - Ages 3 to 5 years old; 1:6 ratio
This class is for those who have successfully completed the Pike class. Children will build on their pike skills and begin to learn to front crawl with their face in the water. Children will begin to feel comfortable swimming without a flotation device.
Ray: (Advanced) - Ages 3 to 5 years old; 1:6 ratio
Advanced swimmers who are comfortable with the water and can swim the width of our pool unassisted. Stroke development is developed for front crawl, flutter kick, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and backstroke. Rotary breathing is introduced; diving skills are reviewed and refined, along with back and front floats.
Polliwog: (Non-Swimmer & Beginner) Ages 6+ years old; 1:8 ratio
Basic water skills are introduced for the non-swimmer and beginner to build self-confidence. Skills taught are front and back paddle stroke, side paddle stroke, elementary backstroke, and learning to swim independently for 20 feet utilizing two of the four strokes.
Guppy: (Intermediate) Ages 6+ years old; 1:8 ratio
Child must be able to swim 20 yards paddle stroke front and back with no assistance from an instructor. Skills learned include stroke development for front crawl, sidestroke, backstroke, elementary backstroke, kneeling dive, and introduction of rotary breathing.
Minnow: (Advanced) Ages 6+ years old; 1:10 ratio
Child must be able to swim 25 yards front crawl stroke with rotary breathing. Children will continue to work on perfecting their freestyle and backstroke. Breast stroke and butterfly are taught at this level.
Flying Fish: (Pre-competitive) Ages 6+ years old; 1:10 ratio
Child must be able to swim 100 yards (4 lengths of the pool) sidestroke, 50 yards (2 lengths of the pool) crawl stroke with rotary breathing, and 50 yards (2 lengths of the pool) of backstroke. The lesson refines breaststroke and butterfly techniques. Learn proper open flip turns and diving skills. This class prepares children for a competitive level of swimming.
