Our 2011 Leaders and Legends Recognition and Scholarship Dinner a tremendous success!

2011 Scholarship Recipients
 
Two hundred and thirty attendees enjoyed the inspirational program and excellent dinner at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors and supporters, especially our Event Sponsors: Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ, The MCJ Amelior Foundation, Sills Cummis & Gross P.C., and United Airlines.
 
We were thrilled to honor three dedicated community leaders: Michellene Davis,Senior Vice President for Policy Development & Governmental Affairs, Barnabas Health, Barbara Bell Coleman,President, BBC Associates and Dennis Bone, President, Verizon NJ.
 
The event also awarded six high-achieving local high school seniors with $2,000 college scholarships: Wadness Castelly from  Irvington High School, Christine Castelluber from  Kearny High School, Matthew Costa from  Belleville High School, Lizbett Mendoza from Technology High School, Grace Nuahn from Central High School, and Jasmine Washington from Malcolm X Shabazz High School. Congratulations to these impressive scholars!
 
Our annual Leaders and Legends event raises crucial funds to provide Newark youth with YMWCA programs such as summer camp, swim lessons, before and after school care, day camp, and youth sports. At the Newark Y, we are committed to engaging our community by promoting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
