The Succeed Program is a grant-funded, community-based alternative to detention designed to support adjudicated youth ages 13–17. Participants must be referred by the Hudson County Courts.  The program operates Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.   providing a safe and structured environment during critical after-school and evening hours. Participants receive comprehensive case management services, along with a wide range of supports and opportunities, including:
  • Individual and family counseling
  • Tutoring and GED preparation
  • Mentoring and positive role models
  • Life skills workshops
  • Evening meal and snack
  • Access to on-site fitness and wellness activities
  • Community service opportunities
  • Transportation assistance

Curriculum Focus

The program’s workshops and activities are designed to promote positive decision-making and personal growth, addressing key areas such as:
  • Social behavior and conflict resolution
  • Effective decision-making and resisting peer pressure
  • Communication skills and teamwork
  • Gang prevention and violence awareness
  • Drug and alcohol education

Program Goals

  • Decrease recidivism rate in teenagers
  • Serve as a safe haven for inner city youth
  • Ensure youth attend court appearances and report to probation
  • Provide programming during high crime hours (3 pm-9 pm)
  • Minimize risk taking and delinquent behaviors during and post program participation
  • Expose inner city youth cultural activities
  • Assist in family reunification process
  • Provide mentors/caring adults to program participants

Our YES Program is funded by Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Children and Youth Services, and Youth Services Commission.
