Adopt A Room

Extended Stay & Youth Emergency Shelter (YES)

Make a lasting difference in the life of an underemployed adult, veteran, or youth in crisis.

What does it mean to adopt a room?

The Newark YMCA’s Adopt-A-Room Initiative invites companies, organizations, families, and community groups to transform lives by transforming spaces. Through this program, you can sponsor the redesign of a bedroom in our Extended Stay or Youth Emergency Shelter, creating a safe, welcoming, and dignified environment for someone in transition.

When you adopt a room, you may choose to personally decorate it or make a financial contribution. In recognition of your generosity, the YMCA Housing Team will prepare the space in your honor, and a personalized plaque with your name (or that of your organization, family, or congregation) will be proudly displayed on the door.

What is the impact of adopting a room?

Your gift will continue to touch lives long after the room is complete. Each resident who walks into that space—whether an underemployed adult, a veteran, or a youth—will be met with warmth, dignity, and hope, knowing that their community cares. It is truly a gift that keeps on giving.
