The Newark YMCA welcomes Kym Jones as our new Grants Director

The Newark YMCA welcomes Kym Jones as new Grant Director.

January 19, 2023 – Newark, NJ:  The YMCA of Newark and Vicinity is pleased to announce that Kym Jones has joined the YMCA’s Executive Team as Grant Director.

Kym comes to the YMCA with a decade of non-profit and education experience and expertise in maintaining and obtaining grant funding. Previously, Kym worked for a NYC nonprofit and coordinated, edited, and wrote multiple multi-million dollar grant proposals for emergency housing and healthcare, as well as providing quality assurance services, data collection and application.

Kym has also been an educator for diverse groups of communities, including youth and adult learners in the workforce. Kym’s strong sense of social justice was strengthened by teaching high school English in urban environments. There she witnessed the impact absorbed by communities that are underserved by quality education, affordable housing, nutrition, and youth and community development opportunities.

Having seen the positive impact that providing quality services accomplishes, Kym continues to focus her professional efforts on broadening access to these services and is very excited to continue to do so at the YMCA!

Kym received her BA in Literature and Writing from Columbia University, New York, New York and her Secondary Education Teaching Certificate from Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, Tennessee.
